Holy smokes has this summer got away from me! I can’t believe that it is the end of August. But more so, I can’t believe that I haven’t really truly blogged in almost two months. You’ll have to forgive me; things have been crazy hectic around my parts of town.
I do have to admit that I have no been doing a ton of reading, eating (or at least making meals I should say), or creating lately so my blogging mojo has been little to none. Which actually leads me into an exciting announcement!
I’ve been thinking a lot about this log lately and where I want to see it go. The future of it, what it will look like when we start to have a family, you know all the things you should think about when deciding a name for your blog BEFORE you hit publish on your first post. Thing is, I didn’t see Read, Eat, Create going anywhere. I want to be able to talk about my life and share personal things on here without taking away from what the title is intended for. So…
I have officially decided to shut down Read, Eat, Create in the next week and start a new adventure in another online space! Don’t worry, once I stop posting on this blog the site won’t disappear. It will still be here for recipes and book reviews and anything else you want to refer to; you just won’t find me here anymore! I am moving back to the blogger platform; I’m in the process of having someone create the most fabulous design ever and I absolutely cannot wait to share my new blog (especially the name) with you all! It finally fits something that will stick for a long time. #finally
Now that this will be my third attempt at a decently successful blog in the last two year, here’s a few things I have learned about this community and hobby:
1) When you pick a name for your blog, think long term. Will you always have those hobbies? Will they pass? Are you truly interest in that topic or does it just seem interesting now? All of these are really important in deciding a long term name.
2) Don’t get to intimidated by the blogging community. Very few lucky people really succeed in the first year of blogging. For others, it takes longer (I have a friend who blogged for three years before she established any sort of income or fan base), If you take other bloggers advice instead of always comparing, you won’t find yourself changing blogs for the third time frustrated.
3) Start blogging because you like the idea of it, not because you want to make money. If your only thought is to make money, you’re going to be disappointed. On the other hand, you’re only going t make money if you put money in. Invest in a good blog design (if you can’t do it yourself), advertise, comment on other blogs and be the best you you can be!!
Stay tuned for tomorrow when I reveal the new blogs name and links to it so you can keep following right along!
Also make sure to come back the rest of the week because I have one more exciting thing to announce! And this one is even more exciting than a new blog!! (I know, I didn’t think it was possible either ;))
